In July 2022, Protective Intelligence Network (PIN) trainers were invited to deliver a counter-terrorism exercise in the frame of the renown Terrorism Analysis Training Course (TATC) - organised by the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) - S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), at Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
TATC seeks to bring together analysts, scholars and practitioners on terrorism and security to explore new insights in counter terrorism research and practice.
The theme for TATC 2022 was “The Evolving Terrorism Landscape”, covering seven areas, namely: Counter Terrorism Concepts and Frameworks, Regional Developments, Terrorism Financing, Far Right Extremism, Terrorism and Science & Technology, Demographic Trends in Terrorism and Preventing/Countering Violent Extremism: Whole-of-Society Response.
The activity delivered by Protective Intelligence Network consisted in facilitating a major table top exercise simulating an international counter terrorism investigation against an al-Qaeda cell plotting a major terrorist attack.
Participants formed joint investigation teams and were called to develop a complex international investigation, involving more than six countries and numerous law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
